Look at this hairdo! The little guy sure does have some style going on and no, we do not use gel or mousse or pomade - zis look comes au naturel
Soooooo sleep has been a bit of an issue over the last week or so (let me rephrase: lack of sleep has been the issue); he was up no less than five times on Wednesday night - ugh. Was he just that excited about hitting the five-month mark? Or maybe he was gearing up for a royal wedding all-nighter... hm. It could have been the teeth, or the move back home, or maybe he misses his dad, or sheesh, I don't know. Anyways, last night was much better. He was down at a normal-ish time (9:00) and with the exception of a 10:30 scream-screech 10-minute awake time, he slept through the night - hurrrrrray. And no, I did not get up to watch any of the royal wedding, but yes, I did check it out as soon as I could this morning - post breakfast play time baby time. Kate looked amaaaaazing in her wedding dress (I love weddings! I love wedding dresses!) and when I feel like I have some time to waste (internet vortex time sucker) I'll look at some of the videos - VIP guests arriving, ceremony etc.
I feel like I had quite a bit to write about, but now that I'm here looking at this keyboard, I'm not so sure what it was. Hm. Anyways, even after a chopped up night of sleep, we had an amazing day yesterday! The morning was productive, and the afternoon was social. Hendrik and I visited Diane in the hospital, and she looked great; Hendrik gave her cuddles and smiles and ooooohs and coos which made everyone smile - yay. And then we met up with Carla - in town for a conference - and the two of us talked almost non-stop for 3 1/2 hours, from pick-up through dinner to drop-off... it was faaaabulous. So good to see a great friend and catch up and phew... it was awesome. Hendrik chimed in too - he was sooooo vocal, and I mean, I think I talk to him quite a bit, but (and maybe, as C-la said, it was the tone? adult talk?) he was piping in and making the cutest noises! I have to get this on video too, because over the past few days he's been laughing and giggling it up when I say BOOM! - man, is it ever cute. For dinner we tried to go the Chelsea Pub, but there was live music about to start - not so great with a wee babe, so we ate at Cafe Soup'Herbe, which I just now realized isn't Cafe Superbe, even though that's pretty much what it was. A quaint and quiet vegetarian/vegan cafe that is well worth a visit; I had a veggie version of Shepherd's Pie, and Carla had spanakopita... yumyumyum. And today, Hendrik and I are going to make our way down to the War Museum to volunteer for CN Cycle for CHEO; our shift is 12-8, so we'll see how it goes. Usually there are so many volunteers that they might not totally need us for eight hours, but yup, we'll see. And Steve is home soon - yay! Two more days. We get to pick him up on Sunday afternoon, and I wonder how much of a change he'll see in Hendrik. Here he is yesterday, being all cute on the change table... washing away the sleep-deprivation-frustration of the night before with cuteness - love!
