baby steps!!

Big news! Yesterday Hendrik took his first little baby steps, all by himself. Eeeeee!!! After several seconds of standing all on his own he took several (six maybe?) little shuffle steps and then plop! sat down. I looked at him with that WOW look bouncing out of my eyeballs and he seemed a bit taken aback, like WHAT are you looking at and WHY are you looking at me like that, really. When Steve got home from practice Hendrik wasn't even interested in standing on his own two feet let alone stepping, but when the garden tomatoes (I think he thinks they're apples) got him going again later in the afternoon, I had to drag Steve out of his pre-practice R&R to witness. And he did! He stepped again, a few more baby steps. Alas, there has been none of that today - we've had cameras on hand at all times. It was amazing to see but it makes me feel like the baby is disappearing.... which I suppose is true, slowly slowly. Life is all about change, and you can't get too attached to one stage because before you know it, another will be sticking its foot in the door. Right? Hm. We just have to soak this all in because before long there will be a toddler running around in our lives.

With the big break coming up in the Italian league, the guys have been given a few days off after Saturday's game - hurray! So we've made plans to head up to Innsbruck on Sunday morning for two days, and then will likely head back here or down to Padova or Vicenza - we'll see. One of Steve's teammates that he played with in Constanta is playing for a team there and it will great to see him and too, to explore a new city. Quite a few Canadians have played in Innsbruck, and I've only heard good things about the place. A weekend away will be a treat.... I can't wait!

Hendrik and Fabio!
