June happenings

Once again, I'm long overdue for a post! Maybe I should realize I need to set a goal to get something up here once a month... sounds attainable! It should be. Most days are so packed with productivity that by the time the kids are in bed and most of the small jobs are taken care of (lunches, laundry, dishes etc.) I'm not interested in knocking something else off my list.

The last month has been held lots of events and activities: the kids showered me with love and attention on Mother's Day and my birthday, we celebrated Father's Day, activities are in full swing and taking up most of our après-school time and attention (which is great, but constantly busy), and I'm sure there's more. The activity highlights are as follows: Hendrik is playing on a competitive baseball team and is loving it; it's great to see him so happy to be involved with his team and to be improving and holding his own out there. Alana is playing soccer and baseball (new as of last weekend) and seems to be really enjoying both. Jordan is doing t-ball and loves that! So we're driving to and watching lots of baseball, but as long as the kids are into it, so are we! We're on the home stretch with school, and everyone is excited. We're planning to celebrate Canada Day at the cottage with family, and then we need to get reno details finalized before early August when we move out of the house and demo starts (eek!). I should get a before tour up here so we can compare side-by-side after photos with what came before. There have been some big changes since we moved in 3 years ago (already!) - less wallpaper, updated plumbing and electrical, new cubbies in our front entranceway and much more.

H is far right in the back row - such a great group of kids!

The last thing I want to write about (briefly) is my Chicago trip! I took a day off early in the month and met Karin and Claire in Chicago (hadn't seen them in 3-4 years - !!), and it was so so great to see them and have time together. We walked and shopped and went out for some nice dinners, and had some early nights in our hotel. With fewer restrictions we're hoping we can get together more regularly, both with the kids and families and without! I can't wait for our next reunion.

The kids are growing quickly, and I hope I can keep up with the blog. It's a great place to come back to to see what was going on during different times and phases of our lives. We're definitely out of the little kid stage, and sometimes it's strange to see them approaching the teen years. The days are long but the years are short, and I want to treasure these times as much as I can. Hope you enjoy the photos and happy summer!

First go-kart trip was a success...

Alana got her ears pierced this weekend - beautiful (as always)!

At a Jays game in Toronto - so fun!
