40 weeks plus 3 days...

Baby is late! Or right on time - right on his time. I ask the kids (and myself) on a daily basis, "when will your baby brother get here?" and Alana responds astutely with "when he's ready." I'm telling him that I'm ready, that we're ready, that he can be ready any time now (listen to your mother!)... but I keep lasting through the night and waking up to new, beautiful spring days. Because I laboured through the night with both Hendrik and Alana, I'm wondering if having a baby on a good night's sleep will be ... different? Not easier - but different. I had some contractions on Tuesday and really really thought it was happening - but then nothing. Nothing! And since then... nothing! So I think I should just stop thinking about it (easier said than done) and maybe make a solid series of plans and THEN maybe he'll be on his way. I have another appointment booked for Monday, and if we get there then an induction will be booked - though hopefully we won't get that far.

Both Hendrik and Alana gave me lovely Mother's Day cards (happy belated Mother's Day!) on Sunday, but Hendrik's really takes the cake:

The card itself is beautiful (yellow with flowers and jewels - what more could I want?!), and he was very proud that he made it AND that I loved it so much. I can't remember what we did - park, bike ride, lots of time outside I think - it was a great day. Hendrik is excited about starting baseball this weekend (Alana has to wait another two weeks for her "Little Sluggers" to start), as he's on a team with three of his friends for eight weeks of T-ball. In a few weeks soccer will start and before we know it summer will be here! We're still trying to figure out when we're doing what, but I think staying close to home is on the agenda for most of July and August. Big news that I am SUPER excited about (did I mention this already?) is that my sister Sarah is coming to visit for a few days in early June and I can't WAIT! She hasn't seen our place and she'll get to meet baby and I am just so excited to hang out with her for a few days... yay!
